The Challenge
Although this stunning home was beautifully maintained, the conservatory had become the one area that was letting the property down.
The existing PVC frames had become drafty over time, while the ageing polycarbonate roof created significant temperature fluctuations throughout the year. During the summer months, the conservatory became unbearably hot, making it uncomfortable to use. In winter, the space was freezing cold and expensive to heat, leaving the homeowners with a room that was rarely used.
The owners wanted a complete conservatory transformation that would improve energy efficiency, enhance the appearance of the property, and create a comfortable extension of their home that could be enjoyed all year round.
Our Solution
Following a detailed consultation, we recommended a full conservatory refurbishment, including:
- Removal of the existing conservatory roof
- Replacement of all existing PVC frames
- Installation of new Eurocell A-rated windows and doors
- A subtle redesign of the layout to maximise natural light
- Installation of a highly insulated SupaLite tiled roof system
By making slight adjustments to the window and door configuration, we were able to modernise the appearance of the conservatory while increasing the amount of glazing, allowing more natural light to enter the space.
Installing a SupaLite Conservatory Roof
The centrepiece of this project was the installation of a SupaLite conservatory roof.
Designed specifically to transform underperforming conservatories, the SupaLite roof provides exceptional thermal performance and structural integrity. With an impressive U-value of just 0.15 W/m²K, the new roof exceeds current Building Control requirements and dramatically improves the conservatory’s ability to retain heat during winter while remaining cooler in summer.
The result is a room that feels like a natural extension of the home rather than a seasonal space.
New A-Rated Windows & Doors
To further improve energy efficiency and aesthetics, we installed new Eurocell A-rated windows and doors throughout the conservatory.
These high-performance products help reduce heat loss, eliminate drafts, improve security, and create a cleaner, more contemporary appearance. Combined with the new roof system, they provide a complete thermal envelope that significantly enhances comfort levels throughout the year.
The Finished Result
The transformation was remarkable.
What was once a cold, drafty conservatory that was unusable for much of the year has been transformed into a warm, bright, and comfortable living space. The modernised design complements the rest of the property perfectly, while the improved insulation means the room can now be enjoyed regardless of the weather outside.
